There’s this Boy….

Good morning! I’m stopping by the blog today to share a layout I created on the weekend at the cottage. Life has gotten much busier for me over the past five months, since I started my new career as a Travel Agent, in addition to looking after children in my home full time, and being a fulltime Mom and wife to my own family. It has been great, but I’m finding it harder and harder to find time to do some of my leisure activities/hobbies, such as scrapbooking! So when we decided to head to the cottage for the weekend this past weekend, but Saturday’s forecast was saying rain, I thought, “Aha!” I’ll take my scrapbooking stuff and work on some pages!”. Which is what I did.

So here is one page that I did. I was anxious to work with this new paper pack I received in the mail, it was called Jack and Jill designed by Lori Whitlock for Echo Park, a fave of mine. This is the Jack collection, which as you would guess, is for boys. I just took a photo of Dylan that I liked and went with it. I love the orange and blue colour combo.

DSC_1065In addition to the papers and stickers in the Jack collection, I used a few enamel dots from my stash, a paper frame from Michael’s, some coordinating cardstock, buttons from my stash and foam dots to raise up the picture. Here’s a little closer look at some of the elements of the page.

DSC_1076 DSC_1075 DSC_1073 Thanks for stopping by the blog today and looking! Today is my 20th wedding Anniversary actually….20 years married to the man of my dreams, the perfect fit for me, my soul mate….don’t know what I’d do without him. We are going out for supper tonight to celebrate. Looking forward to it. Have yourself a great day!

Hangin’ Out in the Woods

Standard

Tonight I am home alone, having some fun playing with my scrapbooking supplies. I decided to do some older lake photos, photos that may not seem like they’re of a big exciting occasion at a glance, well that’s because they’re not. But all of these photos make me smile when I look at them, because they bring back such fond memories. I love the time we spend at the lake very summer. This is Chris’ family’s cottage and we are so fortunate to have full use of it all summer long.

These are snapshots of us just hanging out at the lake with our friends, and their kids. Relaxed, comfortable, just being ourselves….carefree, no schedule, no worries, just fun, sun, laughter, and good times. That’s what I like about the lake. Life is simple. It’s full of the good stuff. Campfires, roasting wieners and marshmallows, swimming, sun bathing, book reading, laughing with friends, skipping rocks, frog catching, sand castle building, boating, water skiing, cook outs, bike rides, canoe trips, loons waking you in the morning, walks and sun rises and sun sets. It’s the best things in life….all back in the woods on a lake!

So I pulled a few pictures together from my pile tonight, and I made this traditional, nothing fancy about it, multi photo layout using the collection from 2013 that I just love called Happy Camper by Echo Park. I also used a few sheets of cardstock, a few enamel dots, and a piece of ribbon. Thanks for stopping by the blog and looking!

p.s. – The pics are a little yellow tonight because I took them in the dark in my dining room, but I felt like blogging tonight so I just used them anyways.

Home for the Holidays – Echo Park

I am very sorry that I’ve been away from the blog for a couple weeks, but I’ve been making a major life change/career change…I’ve been taking a course and setting up my home office to become an at home based Independent Travel Agent with the Destination Experts! I am very excited about this new endeavor, it’s something I have always contemplated doing, and I love travel in all shapes and forms, so I took a leap of faith and signed up! So now you know why I haven’t had much time for posting lately, but I made some time to touch base with you today. I certainly want to keep my blog going, so let’s just consider that a little hiatus. I’m going to share two layouts with you today that I completed in January, using the Home for the Holidays collection of 2014 produced by Echo Park. I am not a fan of scrapbooking Christmas, but I had to do a few layouts at least of some of the highlights of our holidays. Here are two of them:

The sight and mood of the living room on Christmas Eve is a favorite of mine, those twinkling lights and everything all set for the big day. The title “Believe” was made by my friend Renee on her cameo, I just love it!!! I also like the sparkling strip of red tape down the side. It’s glitter tape from My Stamping Studio, which is also where I picked up this fun paper pack, and I just love to add it on my holiday layouts when lots of things sparkle and shine! It just seems appropriate!

Here’s the next layout: The boys all dressed up in their favorite news duds ready to head out on Christmas day!!

This layout again is made with Home for the Holidays by Echo Park. I threw in a little triangle on the bottom of this layout….triangles are trending right now in scrapbook world. Buttons and sequins and circles round out this simple layout.

So Happy Together

Standard

Today I was going through my most recent album, and came across a few layouts that I had not blogged about yet. Here is one. It’s from the past summer, featuring a great little picture of the girls I keep Maria and Emma, and my nieces, Hayden and Scarlett. I used a bright and cheery and feminine paper collection called So Happy Together by Echo Park, from 2012. I picked it up at The Cutting Garden, in Halifax. Here is what I made:

Here’s a closer look at a few of the embellishments:

The green doily was a great match, it came from Michael’s, as well as the flowers. The wooden hearts were from The Cutting Garden, a great little shop in Halifax.

The buttons, brads, and pearls were from my stash, as were the coordinating sheets of cardstock I used. What a cheery little layout on such a grey winter day, don’t you agree? Thanks for dropping by the blog today!

Never too Late

Standard

This morning on the blog I thought I’d share a layout. My nephew Joshua is the star of this layout. I created this layout with the Times and Seasons pack from Echo Park. I liked the dark masculine colours for fall and for a boy. Here is what I came up with:

To complete this layout as you can see I also used some navy and cream cardstock, the wooden leaf which I love, from The Cutting Garden in Halifax, NS, enamel dots, some buttons from my stash, liquid pearls, and burlap pieces, a star and a heart. I love the sentiment on the journaling box too…..Never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream. It’s never too late to live your best life. Here’s a closer look:

Simply Perfect

Today I am stopping by the blog to share a single page, single photo layout of my son Dylan. The page was made using a Photo Freedom Pack of paper and 3×4″ embellishments put out by Echo Park last year, but I made it work for a 12×12″ layout. I really am loving the “flag” trend right now and used a punch to make all my flags exactly the same for along the bottom of the photo. I also used cardstock, brown ink, and enamel dots (another love) from my stash. Thanks for looking at this once again very simple and quick page. Have a great afternoon.

My Hubby and Me

Standard

Like I’ve said before, Fall layouts and Fall photos are among my very most favorite to do. We are moving into Christmas season here now though, which I love in real life, and I love taking photos of, but I really loathe scrapbooking Christmas photos. I am not sure why, I just feel like it’s the same thing year after year, the tree decorating, the baking, the present opening, the stocking hanging (although I do love my stocking!!), the turkey dinner, the parties with the same people, etc… which I love it all in real life, and capturing those special moments in photos, but to scrapbook them, nah. Paper is all the same year after year, hard to find a new way to scrapbook them, or something.

But, I digress. Back to Fall. Here is a fall layout that I whipped up in no time at a crop a few weeks ago, with a beautiful fall collection from last year by Echo Park, called Reflections of Fall by Lori Whitlock. Love her stuff!

This layout was inspired by the following sketch, which I found on Pinterest.

Sketch ~N~ Scrap

This layout was very easy to do. I just cut out some various sizes of circles to use some different patterned papers, used a few stickers (some popped up with foam dots), some brads and gems from my stash, a leaf from Michael’s, and that’s about it. All items are edges in brown pearlescent chocolate ink. Easy peasy.

I am indeed living the good life, with my hubby and my boys. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
