This weekend I’m having some fun at home working on some layouts with a very cute fun new collection that I was so excited to buy! It is called Winter Wonderland by Pebbles. No I do not have my holidays mixed up, I just couldn’t wait to use this collection so I jumped right into it last night and today. I think the mittens and hot chocolates and little travel mugs of hot coffee are the sweetest. I picked it up last weekend at My Stamping Studio in Windsor. I had been down there at her shop’s scrapbooking and card making weekend. Here I am with my scrappy girlfriends, who I have become very good friends with, and here’s a shot of our cropping space.
Here is the double page layout I created with this fun line of papers. I didn’t buy the stickers that came with it because they were very girlie and juvenile and therefore did not appeal to me. As it is I’ll probably have a bit of trouble finding photos to go on these pages! I’ll have to specifically take some of me enjoying hot yummy beverages in fuzzy socks with girlfriends or Maria and Emma…………….. or something! But these colours and patterns so spoke to me, I just loved them, so I got them and had fun creating pages with them. They’re all ready just waiting for photos, and I may embellish them a bit more with snowflake brads or buttons, both of which I’m out of right now.
I had a lot of fun layering all these sweet patterned papers, and using coordinating cardstock. All edges are inked in brown, although a nice navy ink would have been nice on the edges too although I didn’t have any. A few brads and enamel dots were used as well.
Well thanks for looking, in Nova Scotia there’s no escaping the forth coming cold weather, so might as well make a pretty layout about it? Right? That’s my thinking anyways! Now go enjoy your Halloween! Boo!
This morning I am taking it easy around home, many days have been very busy and today I just feel like slowing it down a bit. So I thought I’d start the day with my blog post. Today I’m sharing a single page Christmas layout of my dear, dear friend Leanne and I. Leanne and I knew each other most of our lives, but were in different grades in school so not overly close; but when we were both pregnant with our first children at the same time, in the same community, we started to become closer friends, and the rest as they say is history. Some people you just click with. When both our first born children were boys, born within two months of each other, we started hanging out. We have many similar values and ideas, lifestyles, husbands, families and have the same idea of fun. I simply love her for who she is, inside and out, beautiful. So I took these pics of us together on Christmas Eve and just scrapped them this fall. I used the Cozy Christmas collection by Simple Stories. Here is the layout:
To pull this layout together I used some red cardstock, a ribbon paperclip in bright red from Michael’s, some gems from MME, a paper doily also from Michael’s, and some foam dots. I love using the 3×4 elements commonly found in paper packs these days as titles for my pages, so easy and convenient.
Thanks for looking at my layout! Before I go today though I want to leave you with another recipe idea. This one is for a yummy pot of hot cocoa/chocolate, better than Carnation ever thought of making. This recipe is for a large pot of hot chocolate that you can put on your stove and have warming all Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or during a skating party and ladle out a cup as people want it. You will need a large sturdy pot and the following:
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup unsweetened pure cocoa 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 6 1/2 cups hot water.
In your pot, combine all the ingredients except for the hot water. Place over a medium heat, then slowly stir in the hot water. Heat through, stirring occasionally. I like to top my cup of cocoa with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, but that part’s optional. Pretty seasonal mugs are fun too! Peppermint sticks, marshmallows and chocolate hazelnut wafer cookies (Piroulines) stacked on a plate next to the stove are a nice touch too in case anyone wants to jazz up their hot cocoa/chocolate! Yum yum!
